The durability of our balls

This ball was entirely designed in France and underwent rigorous lab and field quality testing. It meets all FIFA standards and was tested according to a specific testing protocol developed by Decathlon.

Our balls have been tested by a dedicated lab for more than 15 years. Created in 2018, it performs more than 10 tests developed by FIFA or in-house.

All our balls are checked at the end of the production process. We assess them for technical compliance and perform destructive testing at our lab.

Consistency makes all the difference. This ball was designed with exclusive geometry (12 panels), grooves and components that have been tested to provide optimal ball feel.

This thermobonded ball features a 12-panel design with grooves and microfibre components for a stable flight trajectory that is more reliable than a classic stitched ball.

This ball weighs between 420 g and 445 g in size 5, in line with FIFA QUALITY PRO criteria for professional footballs.

How big is it? What's the circumference?

Between 68.5 cm and 69.5 cm in size 5. Complies with FIFA QUALITY PRO standards.

A "round" ball?

Sphericity is measured at 4500 points. Maximum allowable variation: 1.5% (FIFA standard). If the score exceeds this threshold, we revise the design to ensure a consistent trajectory.

MAXIMUM LOSS OF PRESSURE TEST: WHAT IT MEANS

Recommended pressure: 0.8 bar. The ball should not lose more than 15% pressure (≈0.1 bar) within 72 hours of inflation. This test ensures optimal pressure retention.

WE ALSO TESTED THE BALL'S WATER ABSORPTION

Placed in 2 cm of water and compressed 250 times: maximum weight gain of 10%. Thermobonding reduces absorption much better than stitching.

It's all about the bounce

10 bounces on a steel plate from 2 m. Rebound height between 135 cm and 155 cm. Maximum difference between rebounds: 10 cm. FIFA QUALITY PRO standard.

Not even a scratch!

2500 shots at 50 km/h against concrete. Seam durability, pressure, circumference, sphericity: we check everything. The ball has to take it all.
