We developed your jacket for intense wintry conditions: intense cold, snow, blizzards. The insulation is provided by thick wadding made of a synthetic component that insulates by trapping air in its fibres (double layer on the body and single layer at the arms). We added a long inner flap underneath the zip to stop cold air from entering. The system is supplemented by a drawcord at the hem to make the jacket comfortable down to -20°C.
Your jacket is designed with a waterproof outer component that keeps out water and wind. To keep you warm in winter you must also protect your extremities (head, hands, feet). The anti-blizzard hood with detachable synthetic fur, wrist sleeves and a rising collar prevent cold infiltration. The high handwarmer pockets with fleece lining are perfect for protecting your hands in a comfortable position.
The waterproofness of a fabric, provided by a coating or membrane, is measured in Schmerbers or mm H2O (pressure exerted by a column of water). The higher this number, the more waterproof the fabric. This jacket is made from a waterproof fabric (JIS 1092 standard) resistant to 15,000mm H2O (Schmerbers) before washing.
Your jacket is waterproof thanks to its fully taped seams. Waterproof tape is added to the seams inside the garment to make them watertight so that water cannot enter through the more vulnerable areas.
Practical and smart details: 2 hand warmer pockets, 2 outside pockets with flap, 1 secure inside pocket, 2 inside mesh pockets to have everything close at hand. The main zip has a long zipper pull and press studs and thumb pass so you can open or close your jacket while keeping your hands tightly snug in your gloves. The 2 comfort zips at the bottom of the jacket allow you to bend or sit down comfortably.

A fabric's water repellent property is its capacity to make water run off its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from soaking up water and keeps it lightweight, warm and breathable. The water repellent property is achieved by treating the fabric's exterior. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment's lifespan (recommended after each wash). Products (spray or liquid) for this purpose are available in our stores.

A nice jacket, and technically impressive for the money. Looks great. A bit heavy, but to be expected. My only complaint is the warmth. I used this in Iceland recently in -10c (-15c with windchill) and my body was cold. Even though I was layered with a thermal base layer and an Icelandic wool jumper. Thus, this jacket is not even close to the rating claimed. I think -5c would be more appropriate.
I wanted a coat that would keep me warm and dry whilst walking the dog but also while sitting still (ish) watching EFL2 football in the dead of winter. I unzipped the fur off the hood as I already have plenty of facial hair and it's still very snug and warm with the hood up. After my hiking boots this is the best article of clothing I've ever bought. Very well manufactured and designed.
