We use 100% polyester 125 g/m2 wadding. The wadding is made from silicone-coated spiral fibres that make it highly compressible and highly durable. Despite its low thickness, it has high insulation properties thanks to the air trapped inside, and remains lightweight. It retains its warmth even when wet.

A fabric is water repellent when it allows water slide over its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight and warm. The fabric is made water-repellent by treating its outer surface, but this property may deteriorate with use. We recommend that you restore it after each wash.

This polyamide canvas uses 20 denier threads (measurement unit of the thread) and resists up to 20,000 abrasion cycles. Martindale test, Standard 12947-2. Outer: 100% polyamide fabric 39g/m2, 20 denier Lining: 100% polyamide fabric 35 g/m2, mix of 15 to 20 denier threads.

A tear on a padded gilet can happen when trekking! The good news is that it can be repaired with a patch so the tear doesn’t get any bigger or to stop the synthetic fibres from getting out. Don\'t you feel at ease carrying out this repair yourself? Don\'t worry! Some of our in-store Decathlon workshops offer a repair service to mend your padded gilet using a heat-bonded patch.

Once you have cleaned your padded jacket, we recommend you use a water-repellent reactivator spray to preserve the hydrophobic properties of the outer fabric. This renews the fabric’s water repellent properties and optimises performance throughout the lifespan of your garment.
