How to use the three-layer technique for your hands

To prevent heat loss through the extremities, it’s important to be well-equipped. For the hands, the three-layer technique allows you to adapt to the weather conditions and intensity of your physical exertion. The three layers are the following: - Merino wool or silk liner gloves - Warm mid-layer gloves - Waterproof third-layer over-gloves

Are these gloves waterproof or water-repellent?

These gloves are not equipped with a waterproof membrane to allow better breathability during intense exercise. However, these gloves are water-repellent. They allow water to run off the surface without absorbing it. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight and warm. These gloves have been designed to take on the properties of waterproof trekking gloves in case of rain.

How have we tested the precision (dexterity) of the glove?

We have tested the dexterity of these gloves by evaluating their ability to easily put on a jacket and handle bivouacking objects, walking poles, food and drinks. For better dexterity, these gloves are pre-formed with a double seam fork to adapt to the natural shape of each finger.

How is the usage temperature measured?

All our gloves are laboratory tested on a thermal hand. The minimum temperatures for use (recommended and limit) are the result of a study carried out with a test panel of 23 walkers exposed to temperatures ranging from 5°C to -20°C and 10 km/h winds. These temperatures are only valid in walking conditions. These gloves have a warmth rating of 1 out of 5. For these gloves: - Recommended temperature: 4°C | Limit temperature: -1°C.
